Scored for congas, bongos, and sampler, Reshuffles is comprised of a succession of repeated patterns, which are sampled during performance and immediately played back, while the performer progresses through a series of rhythmical variations, forming an intricate counterpoint with the sampled loops.

Reshuffles was composed in Febuary 1993 for Mexican percussionist Ricardo Gallardo, with whom I had the good fortune of working while we were both based at the City University, London.
